Tour and Tasting

Visit our custom designed Calgary rum distillery for a tour and a tasting event. Learn more about the rich history of rum running in Alberta, and about the process we use to create Romero Rum.

Tour Information

Below are all of our tour and tasting offerings. Take advantage of our competitive pricing and unique tour and tasting itineraries to make the most out of your stay with us in Romero Distilling Co.

Private Tours

Standard tour and tasting

Conducted in groups of up to 10 at a time, about 30 - 45 minutes

  • Experience a formal tasting of our Rums and Sugarcane Spirits.
  • Go through the largely untold history of rum running in Alberta and learn about one of Canada's most notorious rum running murders.
  • Tour the distillery and learn about the rum making process in detail.

$15/person

Custom Cask Tour for 2

Intended for 2 people (friend, or significant other)

  • This tour and tasting is a private affair and you will have 40 bottles of custom finished rum, after it has matured for one month.
  • We will also take you through the distilling process and you will experience a tour of our facility including the still room. We also share some of the history of Alberta’ s rum running operations during prohibition.
  • The Custom Cask Tour includes:
    • 40 bottles of custom finished rum (one month later once the rum has matured)
    • 2 x private tour and tasting
    • Select the finish that you would like for your rum
    • 2 x branded golf shirts
  • You will. also receive the custom branded 200 litre cask that your rum was aged in – we will work with you to have a brand developed that can be painted on your cask.

  • $1250 deposit to reserve custom production
  • $1250 at time of bottling and pickup

Custom Blend Tour

Conducted in groups of up to 10, can be booked as a group or booked individually until a group of 5 is reached, about 1 hour

  • During this tour you will make a bottle of customized sugarcane spirit (yours to keep) by blending different spice infusions and flavours in one bottle. We will also share some of the history of Alberta's rum running operations during Prohibition.
  • We will take you through the distilling process and you will experience a tour of our facility including the still room and a tasting of different infused and flavoured sugarcane spirits
  • Examples of infusions and flavours include: Vanilla, caramel, nutmeg, cinnamon, star anise, cloves, orange zest and cracked pepper   
  • Place cork and label

$75/person

Corporate Tours

Team Offsite / Team Building - Custom Cask

This includes the private use of the bar and tasting room from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM for team meetings and presentations

  • Private tour and tasting
  • 1 drink per person at the bar
  • Select the style and finish that you would like for your rum
  • 40 bottles of custom finished rum (one year later after the rum has matured)
  • Catered breakfast (priced separately)
  • Catered lunch (priced separately)
  • Assist with bottling one year later if wanted 
  • 1 drink per person at the bar at time of bottling
  • The custom branded 200 litre cask in which your rum was aged

$3000

  • $2000 deposit to reserve custom production and use of the facility
  • $1000 at time of bottling
  • 40 person maximum.
Team Offsite / Team Building - Custom Blend

This includes the private use of the bar and tasting room from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM for team meetings and presentations

  • 1 bottle per person of sugarcane spirit that you make by blending different spice infusions and flavours in one bottle.
