Many are unaware that Prohibition was in effect in this province in 1916. One of Alberta’s early, bold pioneers willing to take risks to achieve his goals was Emilio Picarriello, infamously known as Emperor Pic, who saw Prohibition as a business opportunity and quickly built a significant rum-running operation.
